Burner Management System Solutions

Automation

Full lifecycle combustion management, emission reduction and burner management system solutions

Magna IV Engineering has significant experience in the fields of fired equipment design,

maintenance, troubleshooting, burner replacement and emissions reduction.

Specifically, extensive experience in the following:

  • Burner design, modification, and replacement; from low oxides of nitrogen (NOx) burners, to flame fitting, troubleshooting over firing, targeted emissions reduction, burner design to accommodate fuel gases other than natural gas (i.e., biogas, refinery gas, syngas, etc.)

  • Reduction strategies for NOx, sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2)

  • Destruction removal efficiency (DRE) determination of fuel gases other than natural gas (i.e., biogas, refinery gas, syngas, etc.), including gases that contain hydrogen sulfide (H2S), benzene compounds (BTEX), ammonia (NH3), and other hazardous air pollutants

  • Stack sampling with various testing methods, including completion of courses in industrial stack sampling, testing, and reporting requirements

  • Base-Level Industrial Emissions Requirements (BLIERS) / Multi-Sector Air Pollutants Regulation (MSAPR) compliance, testing and analysis

  • Design phase and field support for multiple emissions reduction strategies, including both internal and external flue gas recirculation (FGR), staged combustion, lean-premix, and steam hypermixing

  • Fired equipment thermal and combustion efficiency analysis

  • Physical modelling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling to achieve targeted emissions reduction

  • Dispersion modeling to achieve air permitting emission targets

  • Future proofing fired equipment and burner emissions

  • Future emission requirements are constantly being changed (emission targets reducing)

Magna’s team is involved in technical committees, kept current with regulatory changes and able to future proof burners by exceeding emissions requirements. One approach is to blend hydrogen with fuel gas to significantly reduce the emissions and greenhouse gases (GHG).

  • Magna’s team includes two voting members of the CSA B149.3 Technical Committee, which gives us direct access and influence on any requirements or changes to the field approval standard for fired equipment in Canada. One is also a member of the NFPA 86 sub-committee on thermal oxidizers.

  • Magna can help provide business case for government grants for emission reduction.

  • We have evidence to demonstrate that we are about 20-33% less expensive than our competition.
